The biggest taxes in the US are state level taxes that go into the Super
Fund, and the state road funds. They aren't related to the tax breaks that
some oil companies receive.

Also those taxes have nothing to do with the price of gas going up. the
price of gas going up is related to the demand produced by other countries
that we haven't had to deal with in the past. The taxes have been there for
a long time. But increased demand from China and India is very new.
