Holy crap! I hope you had no injuries. It is interesting how businesses look at these experiences though. They know that the price they pay for a particular part only guarantees them a certain level quality (1 defect in 10,000 for example). Some parts need a higher reliability (like petrol tanks) and others it doesn't matter so much (like ashtray lids). When somebody is on the wrong end of a defect manufacturers count on their dealer network and brand to keep the customer, but they know they'll likely lose them. That's calculated into their business plan. And engineers make mistakes all of the time which is why you see so many recalls. But the real demon is when the process is such that there's no outcome other than poor quality. For example I steer clear from Fords because I had a Taurus that, brand new, had a broken fuel gauge, misaligned rear door, and squeaky seat. That shows a quality process problem because none of those items should've escaped inspection - both at the factory AND the dealer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:206329 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
