I'm surprised someone hasn't invented a keyboard that uses only your thumbs.

Actually, there is a keyboard that uses only one hand.  Something like a 
"chord" keyboard, because you "type" by pressing combinations (like a musical 
chord) of keys with your thumb and fingers.  

I saw it on a show about underwater scientists using waterproof computers 
rather then writing their observations and then trying to transcribe them 
later.  Since a standard keyboard is particularly clumsy to use while diving, 
one of them developed this one-handed keyboard.

I think that would just be cool to have and learn to use.  But I would still 
spell out most of my words.
