Yeah, that was at the top of Mauna Kea ~14,000 feet! So That was about 4,000 feet above the clouds. Some of the world's best observatories are up there (Keck) and it's a scary drive. First you have to drive Saddle Road which is an old (WWII) Army road - no banks, 2 lanes, half of each lane is full of patched up potholes so you drive the center. That's about a 25 mile drive and can be really foggy because you go up to about 6500 feet. Oncoming traffic scares the crap out of you. Then you hang a left and up to 9,000 feet it's paved and an easy drive. There's a visitor's center there. Then it's dirt with no guard rails and a sheer drop off the side 0_0 The last mile is paved. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:208095 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
