My grandfather was dying, my mom went to stay with him, and I had to
live with my best friend's family for a few months.

His mom decided she didn't want to drive to both practices, so it was
either join football or sit and watch football. Pretty easy decision.
Maybe the wrong decision in the end, cause I could have just watched
the cheerleaders instead, and rejoined soccer later in the fall.

And, yes, brain damage resulted. Which was not as bad as the broken
tailbone from football (or the ruptured spleen).
