"Hi everybody!"

Okay, now that that's out of the way... I just wanted to introduce myself since
I'm going to try to contribute on CF-Talk regularly (no promises).

I started writing ColdFusion in 1999 and have been a full-time CF developer
since. I had the pleasure of being trained by Matt Boles way back when (last I
heard he is now "principal instructor for the Macromedia Educational Services
group"). I worked at StoneAge.com (co-founded by Ben Forta, who often popped
in) for several years, and am now at PowerOne Media (CarSite.com).

I contributed early on to CFLib.org (isEmail, isZip, isSSN) but in 2002, I
started what has become a behemoth "hobby" site which has grown beyond my
wildest expectations and is the basis of much of my real-world ColdFusion
experience. It's a Harry Potter fan site called HPANA (80,000 registered
members and 8-10 million pageviews a month nowadays!). It's completely
custom-written, from the news aggregation and content management systems to the
forums.

Since I started with no money and it quickly grew beyond my hardware's and
bandwidth's capability, I learned how to squeeze every ounce of performance
from ColdFusion and have used that experience in my day job. (HPANA has since
been featured in media like USA Today, Washington Post, New York Times,
Movies.com, and is even recognized by JK Rowling as one of her favorite sites.
We've also been invited by Warner Bros. to attend the red-carpet premieres of
the last two HP movies in London and NY.)

My main goal in developing HPANA was to have a kind of ColdFusion playground
for myself. Primarily, I wanted to hone my then-budding search engine
optimization skills, and I wanted to push myself to learn the latest technology
and CF techniques.

So... that's me, for starters. I hope to give back in some small way to a
community that's always been so helpful.

Cheers.
