Sounds like a Hiatal Hernia. Been there, done that. Not fun, but better than the options. They thought I had a heart attack. I was in the doctor's office being seen for having been severaly ill and problems in my uppper stomach region. Doc put me on an EKG two minutes later walked in and said he was calling an ambulance because he thought I was having a heart attack in his office.
Several months and a half dozen tests later (they explored from every angle) They finally diagnosed me with a Hiatal Hernia. Get used to anti-acid, acid blocker type medications. Previcid, prilosec ....
