Cool. One of the reasons I love this area (I work at Duke, btw) is that I can get to the mountains in 3 hours, and to the ocean in 3 hours. Not quite California, but the cost of living is a hell of a lot cheaper, and the ocean is warmer =) 3 hours to the mountains, but Lake Lure and Asheville are more like 4-5 hours. It takes about 3 hours to get to the nearest part of the Blue Ridge Parkway from my house..
