My favorite Falwell moment was a couple decades back when someone blew up
one of his ministry's broadcasting towers, so he puts out a flash emergency
fundraiser showing a picture of him with one foot on one of the four
concrete pilons on which the tower was mounted with the twisted remains of
steel sprouting from it. He said that they needed something like $110,000
*IMMEDIATELY* to replace the tower and resume broadcasting the Word of God,
or the enemies of God would prevail.

One of the people on his mailing list owned a radio station and was puzzled
by Falwell's plea because almost all radio stations have full insurance
coverage for such things. He checked it out, and sure enough: Falwell was
fully insured for the tower that was destroyed.

Respectfully,

Adam Phillip Churvis

Well - he's died.

Now I suppose we'll see him become a martyr for fundamentalists.
