Thanks for the info. She's pretty creative so I think this could be fun for her. I'm not sure they have those sort of classes where she lives (small italian town) but there are probably some good web resources (like webmonkey). At the rate things are going, my mother will probably be more up-to-date on technology than I am. : )

Basic animation skills can be picked up from the lessons that it ships with, simple activescripting requires a good on-line tutorial or book (I recommend PeachPit's book). Synchronizing sound with action is probably the toughest thing to do that was seen in the muffin films.
