Spent a great weekend visiting my Grandparents in Western NY (Tonawanda to be specific). The town is right on the (remains) of the Erie Canal and it was the 25th "Canal Fest" - so lots of rides, games and stuff to do. Felt like we walked for at least 15 miles. ;^)
We spent an afternoon down by the Niagara river and my daughter bucked the Davis trend by NOT falling in (as all members of our family must eventually do). Got some sweet-potato fries and blue-cheese burgers at Old Man River. Spent all day Sunday with the grandparents and heard about all the neighbors. (Every one of my Grandmother's detailed accounts ends with "Well... if that's the way they want to live their lives I'm not going to say anything!") It's great that the kids are old enough now to actually know their great-grandparents (grandpa's health isn't so good... but for 83 it's not so bad either). A really good weekend.
