We shouldn't.  The US should move as quickly as possible to consumer
driven health care.  Companies like:

Are doing that, but it's not moving fast enough.

Universal health care will never, ever, in a zillion years, work.
Admin costs already exceed 20%.  When has the US gov't EVER been known
for lowering bureaucracy?
