And inequality did not only apply to Blacks, but to others as well -- Irish. Italians. Jews. I know of a time (not so long ago -- in my grandparent's generation, 1930s) when if you were Sabbath observant, you couldn't keep a job. There were people who on Friday told the boss they couldn't come in Saturday, and got their pink slips. And they went through this every week. And several thousand years ago, we Jews were slaves in the land of Egypt... I'm not minimizing the slavery that Blacks suffered in this country before the civil war, or the struggle against the Jim Crow laws or segregation. I'm just saying that oppression is not only a Black problem. It's everyone's problem.
