I was just attempting to pull it back to the center a bit, and get people admitting there are shades of grey here.
I did not mention abortion, but a general "doctor's appointment", which could include egg collection as well. But statements like "murder", and "your moral objections shouldn't stand in the way of research that may one day save MY life" are so polarizing and pedantic, I wanted to get you both talking in more thoughtful terms. As a type 1 diabetic and without a spleen, I am very hopeful about stem cell and gene therapies. So I am all for research, in all directions. But, there are things I don't want done in my name, things that conflict with my sense of right and wrong. And I further realize that my moral compass does not always point in the same direction as other peoples'. So the best we can do is talk about it all openly, have people who constantly question the pack, and come to some consensus about what should and shouldn't be allowed in our society. I don't think majority should always rule, but it should definitely affect the general course. As for abortion, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment "available, safe and rare" On 9/7/07, Scott Stewart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I don't think that there's ever been a suggestion, in all of the heated > debates that we've had on abortion, that the procedure should be taken > lightly.
