I've been putting time in when I can. It's remarkably polished but is still definitely beta - at least for "Valve" title (most companies would have released this as the final product already). ;^) The game itself is actually fine: most of my problems have been with the integration of the Valve community features. For example my server list always starts with all columns but the first minimized and it refused to display any servers unless I stop it and refresh. Bringing up the Steam community tends to lock the system for a few seconds and last night Loathe chatted with me but I didn't know it until I stopped played (way too late). Still - even in beta - it's probably the best game of its kind I've played. The bright, cell-shaded graphics are PERFECT for the gameplay. Lacking the claustrophobic, dark gameplay of nearly every other recent title out it's just plain fun (rather than being nerve-wracking and over-wrought). Yes, it's VERY violent, but so cartoony that I've got no problem letting my son watch me play. I would love to see a "kids only" version of the game using traditional cartoon weapons (mallets, rockets, portable holes and such) - kind of a FPS trainer. He's not ready to get into the grown-up games but he's definitely able to actually play them. Alsonow having played for many (probably too many) hours the community is great - very little (almost no) smack talk or insults. No blatant immaturity or sour-grapes gameplay. That may all change when the game goes gold but I somehow doubt it... there's definitely a difference in maturity level between the PC (or PS3 for that matter) and XBox Live. It's one of the reasons that I just never enjoyed "Gears of War" online...
