I'm in that boat as well... I have "developer admin" rights which means I can install most things. Even then I couldn't actually complete the install of WMP 11 - I had to manually set several registry keys to get it to finish. Even with that I still can't change screen-saver or start page settings in the browser or any number of other, seemingly innocent, settings. I understand the need for security but I do wish they would think about things a little. For example my PC goes into screen saver mode (requiring a password to re-enter) after 15 minutes. But that's also the hardcoded time for Notes to check for new email. So I'll often, while working at home see the screen blank simultaneously with the tone that indicates new mail.
