You gotta do what's best for you and what's gonna make you truly happy. If military service is it, then by all means go for it.

The reason that I have to drop a lot of weight soon is I decided that I am going to hang up my programmer's hat and put on my Army beret for good. I have applied for a conditional release from the National Guard and I am going back to the regular Army to finish my career. It was a tough decision, but one that I have been working on for quite some time. In fact, last spring I had already applied for and was approved a conditional release, but at that time my wife and I split up and I did not want to drag a nasty divorce into my new unit. So since the divorce will be final in December, I am re-applying. I really love the Army with all my heart and for the life of me cannot figure out why I got out in the first place. It is truly my calling.
