There are no "holes" in the theory, it just doesn't explain every detail like Newton's theory of gravity doesn't predict gravity's effect as granular as Einstein; however every 1st year physics student still use Newton to do all kinds o prediction and it works great. But if you're REALLY curious as to the details in a no bullshit manner, there is a definitive book that you can read the first 2 chapters of and it'll explain all of the problems.
