Coldfusion, is what you want it to be. CFML - is Coldfusion Markup Language, as an extension to HTML. And is described as a server side scripting language.
Regardless, of its history in C++/Java by all definitions it is a Scripting Language. Visual Basic, is a scripting language by definition. However when do you not call it as that, when it is compiled? The source is still a script.
