Better yet get two (or four) and build a RAID array. There are some really cheap USB two drive enclosures out there and a TON of intelligent four-drive solutions. I just ordered a ReadyNAS NV (my original ReadyNAS is packed to the gills). I went eBay to save some money on the box itself (got it for a still pricey $500, but saved around $300) and got four Terabyte drives from NewEgg. The whole thing will end up at about $1500 and give me three terabytes of networked RAID 5 storage. The ReadyNAS boxes are smart enough so that you can start with a single drive and add more storage dynamically as you need/can afford to. Of course you don't need a dedicated NAS box... an old PC with enough space for the drives in it (anything from the past 8 or so years would work) could be loaded with Linux and do the same thing.
