If you're just going to play, and you don't have a dedicated T1, backups, etc, then fine, host it out of your house.
Otherwise, don't even think about putting small clients, friends who rely on their email/websites, or any business, on a server in your house. Please. For the love of the good names of webmasters everywhere ....
