Heh, branching the thread... If you want to play with BBSes but don't want to dial-up, there are a number of Telnet based boards around
http://www.telnetbbsguide.com/ Also, if you want to run them, there are COM -> Telnet emulators or you can run something like SynchroNet http://www.synchro.net/ Others are out there too. I ran a Telnet Synch board for a while... even tied it in with Fido... but I had to pull the plug because of a number of different issues.
