I can't remember if I mentioned to y'all but when we took the boat out for
the first run of the season a few weekends ago, it overheated. Since I
wasn't paying attention to the temp gauge, it overheated badly.

Turned out to be a faulty water impeller (the one in the stern drive), but
we also discovered the engine thermostat had been removed. The previous
owner must've removed it to "solve" a problem and never replaced it. That's
not real good.

So, over the last few weeks, I've replaced the water pump, installed a new
thermostat, and replaced my tach and fuel gauges which were not working.
Also installed a new cigarette lighter (power outlet, really) for plugging
in phones and stuff.

Hoping to go to the lake again on Saturday for "Test Run #2".

The Corps web site says the water temp is up to 64 degrees... that's down by
the dam where the water is quite deep, I think the rest of the lake is a bit
warmer, as 3 weekends ago when I was out there, I waded in up to my shorts
and the water felt pretty nice.. had I been wearing a swim suit I would've
had no problem swimming.

Of course, I grew up on a lake in Michigan, and "summer" starts memorial day
weekend and we were lucky if the lake water was 60 degrees by then.
