Sounds like a real tool. Don't carry unless you think he actually means to do you physical harm and not just talk big. I understand the whole judged by 12 rather than carried by 6 thing, but felony gun possession is a bitch.
The fact that his unit has deployed twice and he hasn't gone at all makes him a shit bag to my mind, someone that wants the glory without the risk, guys like that are like bullies, all talk, I don't think I would stress about it all too much.
