Three nights ago my NAS box (a Netgear Ready NAS NV with 2 TB of my
precious, precious data) was acting up. It worked, then failed, etc.

By the next day I couldn't access the system any longer. I tried to
reinstall the firmware (a normal, non-destructive process) but when I
rebooted the admin claimed that my volume was empty.

ARRRRRRRRRGH!

I posted a plea the (well moderated) support forums and, tonight, got free,
professional support. I had to forward port 23 on my router to the box and
the tech telneted in, diagnosed the problem (a rare issue with the media
server than causes it to loop infinitely and fill the disk with useless log
information), fixed and left.

After a disk check (a nervous hour) we rebooted and everything is back!
I've got to upgrade to a new firmware in which the bug has been fixed.

So we're happy.

And we're dancing.

And we're signing.

Singing!

Dancing!
