Lets not forget the new schools and hospitals, irrigation systems and what not that have either been built from the ground up or rebuilt. Or the work we are doing on their infrastructure to make it more reliable. Or the dramatic improvement on the quality of life for many Iraqis. The list goes on but again this is stuff that is not going to ever be reported by the MSM, or even FNC for that matter.
To add to that, Obama recently changed his website to show that he now cedes that the surge is actually working, which is interesting because not too long ago his site was critical of the surge. Great way to flip-flop without ever having to actually admit that you were wrong. But then that is what happens in election years. Candidates pander to their base during primaries, then lean more to the middle during the general election in order to pull votes from the other side., Although we are not technically in the general election phase until the conferences are finished and the candidates are officially announced, we may as well be since Obama and McCain are pretty much locked in. I also find it interesting that Obama has a sudden interest in going to Iraq and talk to ground commanders. I guess that is because McCain pretty much called him out on the fact that he has not been there for over 900 days, and has yet to visit Afghanistan. Fun stuff.
