I wanted to buy a wide angle adapter for my canon camcorder. Canon
makes a nice adapter than runs about $140. Did the google product
search and found a place that had it on sale for $120 and it was in
stock. Ordered it, payed with paypal. This morning, I get an email
stating that there's an issue with my order and they haven't been able
to contact me at my phone number....interesting since I've had my
phone with me all weekend.

So I call the place up. The tell me that the canon lens is on
backorder for a very long long time. Internal flag goes up. I play
along.

  "So what's a similar product?" I ask.

"Oh, well, for your camcorder we have a great lens by Digital Vision,
and it's even .45x instead of .7x"

"How much is this lens"

"It's only $149.99 so just a little bit more than the canon"

"Who is Digital Vision?"

"You've never heard of Digital Vision?"

"Nope, and tell you what, let's just cancel this order"

"Are you trying to tell me that you want the canon lens that has the
bad CA and blurry edges"

"yep"

"So are you trying to say you want the paypal transaction refunded"

"yep"

"ok, goodbye"

Speak of mutually assured destruction?
Nice story... Tell it to Reader's Digest!
