I'll take a little different take on this debate and say that it
really says more about America than either of the 2 candidates.

What are we looking for from them?

I think it's pretty clear that Ms. Palin is a capable politician, but
lacking in a well developed national policy view. As a new governor,
that's not surprising or a bad thing. Biden is a career legislator
and admitted policy wonk with a big mouth.

So what do we want? Details? Or sound bites? A beer buddy or an
skilled operator?

In the end the moments that will be remembered may be some gaffe or
biting insult, but not because it's a gaffe or insult; because it'll
confirm or deny a stereotype of the candidate.

And because we'll talk about that stereotypical reminder, it'll reveal
Americans values.
