I heard (and watched) Palin say it on CNN, and the talking head told us that McCain said the same thing today at another rally (which I did not hear or see). But, I semi-trust that he did, hoping for verification (me seeing and hearing him say it) later tonight.
And, fwiw, Massachusetts is looks like late fall in a short leaf season. things are either green (but dull) or brown already. Connecticut is just starting the red, red colors (dogwoods are flame-red, maples orange to medium red). Rhode Island, with all the pine, is still green.
