You should go to a good ophthalmologist and get checked out.  In the 
eye field, an optomitrist is good for figuring out what kind of 
glasses you need as long as there are no problems. They are not 
medical doctors.
   An Ophthalmologist is an md that specializes in the eye.   They 
can make sure that there aren't other problems going on...

then - you may need bifocals. You didn't say how old you are but once 
we hit like 40 - some older and some younger, our eyes can't adapt as 
easily to changes in distance.. and you need seperate glasses for 
near and far.  Tell the doctor you do a lot of computer work and the 
can make them up with that in mind.
