Whew. Thanks for that. It feels good to be berated for driving a gas hog again. Well, it's not I don't believe in environmental preservation. Adam Smith, for example, was famous for saying that "waste ... impoverishes us all". Meaning that pollution and/or thoughtless/reckless management of environmental and natural resources is a waste and thus violates my conservative principles. That having been said, I don't personally believe that SUVs (or kickass V8, V10, V12 engines) are the problem. The problem is that oil, coal, and other stupid shit is still being used as a majority of our power supply. This seems totally asinine. So I'm all for depleting oil if it means we can actually solve the problem rather than treating it with stupid shit like hybrids. For full disclosure I ditched my V8 sports sedan in favor of an inline 4 sedan. I also picked up a 1992 Chevy Suburban for $1. Looks pretty good too. 250K miles but she runs like a champ. Needs a new battery though.
