http://www.acton.org/commentary/443_marxist_roots_of_black_liberation_theology.php Black Liberation theologians James Cone and Cornel West have worked diligently to embed Marxist thought into the black church since the 1970s. For Cone, Marxism best addressed remedies to the condition of blacks as victims of white oppression. In For My People, Cone explains that "the Christian faith does not possess in its nature the means for analyzing the structure of capitalism. Marxism as a tool of social analysis can disclose the gap between appearance and reality, and thereby help Christians to see how things really are." > I also didn't see anything in the main wikipedia article linking it to > anything in South America. > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_liberation_theology Black liberation theology is based on liberation theology which is from South America. I forgot were I read that but could find it if you really really care:) > That one links it to South Africa. But not South America. Not sure why > linking it to either South Africa or South America would make it > Marxist anyway. Because many of the countries it existed were communist so that's what they went with. They like to call it socialist instead of communist. And again it was the theory of social equality through violence rather than earning. > On preview: Wright said there were parrallels with Nicarauga > liberation theology, which is fine, but doesn't make the black > liberation theology Marxist at all. Black liberation theology may be > Marxist, I don't know, but it pre-dates the Nicaraugan revolution. > > All I'm seeing here is smears by association. With going deep into it, it's sounds a lot like blame whitey, fight whitey. I'm not saying the masses in the pews subscribe to the radicalism, just think that it's the only religion his daughters know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:275874 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
