I'm not a member of the "legalize it" crowd. I went through my phase in high
school and college like a lot of people did...I enjoyed myself....I still do
occasionally.....but the idea of legalizing drugs just doesn't make sense to
me.

HOWEVER......this legislation DOES make sense. There is absolutely no reason
to put someone in jail for 6 months because they had an eighth on them, or a
dime bag. I like the idea of having a fine....i'd even be OK if the fine
were increased (you want to discourage drug use, even if you don't plan to
prosecute and jail for it).

Drug dealers would still be targets for incarceration and jailing, but the
casual user would only be risking the loss of their stash and a chunk of
change. That seems rational.
