Sorry about that. Just super frustrated. I've been working on this issue since 
Thursday.

I finally got a call back from tech support. I spent 6 hours on the phone with 
no progress. They eventually did some packet captures on the laptop and server 
and are going to analyze them over night.

This is starting to sound really similar to an issue I've seen in W2K3 server. 
To fix that I reinstalled the last SP, but since the Vista disk already had SP1 
installed on it I cant reinstall it - the SP install just errors out saying the 
SP is already installed.

Maybe I'm just better doing a nuke and pave. Try to salvage what files I can 
from my current system and chalk it up to I should have known better. Its too 
bad, right now my system runs faster than it did on XP, except for this pesky 
networking issue.
