Wouldn't this increase the number of unemployed significantly. Also, the newly freed would practically be unemployable since the competition for jobs would have so many people who have never served in prison. And no, I am not advocating that they stay in prison. Just curious about their future. I would imagine a high percentage would be back in prison in short order. Are many of the prisoners illegals? Could they be returned to their home country? "California, unlike the Federal Government cannot deficit spend. If they anger the voters enough with tax increases, the backlash will be a demand to cut spending, which is long overdue." It would be nice to see constituents hold their representative accountable.
