And I do not think that 'universal healthcare' plans should be a blank check
to get any test or medical procedure a person desires.

In most cases, genetic testing of an unborn child would be a bit
overzealous.  However, in your case, and quite a few others, it woudl be
imperitive.

My wife and I have had to fight several battles for coverage for my son who
has Cerebral palsy secondary to a stroke he suffered shortly after birth, so
I can relate to how you may be feeling.
