In the early 80s, a company put out a word processor independent program, called
DotWriter,
for printing custom fonts and layouts from the TRS-80. They put out a large number of
fonts
that would rival a lot of the .TTFs out today. All of the layout and font calls were
handled
 though markup using "Dot" tags.
