> Subject: Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty

Obama couldn't do that even if he wanted to. All treaties have to be
ratified by 2/3rds of the Senators. Treaties are also required to be in
line with the constitution and not exceed the authority that congress has
the power to do themselves, so I'm not really concerned that a treaty is
somehow going to suddenly going to give some other "sovereign body" the
legal right to dictate our direction as a nation. Treaties can say "we
agree to do these specific things that are outlined here" (as long as
congress has the power to make laws about those things to begin with). They
cannot say "we agree to do whatever someone else tells us to do going
forward." If anyone in the government voted to ratify such a treaty the
judicial branch could prosecute them for violating their oath to "preserve,
protect and defend the constitution." That's the simple version anyway.
