In some ten years of web application development I have never had to do
anything with video. If you have followed my previous threads I have a
TIVO recording to which I have been trying to get access. I now have a
video that I would like to put on my personal, shared hosted, GoDaddy web
site. What would be the best and easiest way with some coolness to put
some videos on my web site. Streaming would be nice, if simple and
possible in my shared hosting situation. I know I could just put the
files up for download, but I would like to do better then that, if possible.

I found this web site that shows some tools to convert .tivo files to
mpeg files.

TiVo to AVI Converter
http://www.dvd-ipod.biz/convert/tivo-to-avi.html

It recommended something called DirectShow Dump to get the mpeg file out
of the .tivo format. But this tool requires the .NET 1.1 (new
frameworks don't work) to install. While in the process of downloading
and installing .NET 1.1 I found this other tool called TIVO Decoder.

TiVo Decoder GUI v1.1.0.0

This worked a charm, and I now have a mpeg file of the desired content.
And I am about to open the Aimersoft Video Converter which advertises
itself as a "video converter, video joiner, and video editor all-in-one
software for you to convert video files(AVI, DivX, XviD, WMV, MPEG, MPG,
FLV, DAT, RM, RMVB, MOV, ASF, H.264, etc) to the formats you want, so
you can enjoy you movie on all common digital players like iPod, Zune,
iPhone, Apple TV, PSP, Xbox 360, PS3, Archos, iRiver, Creative Zen, PMP,
Smart Phone, Pocket PC, PDA, Mobile Phone, etc."

So if this tool lives up to its name, what should I do with it?
