Because, historically, the students at any military academy have skewed Conservative, and therefore Republican.
And for the last 20 years or so, campuses across the board have skewed that way. It's not an idiotic prejudice. And it was actually one of the realities I learned when I went there for a 2 week "acclimation" week that made me less inclined to attend. I learned I don't march well in lockstep with others. "Should be" and "are" are vastly different things. And "officers" and "cadets" are vastly different things. And "Neo-cons" and "Conservatives" are vastly different things. Also it wasn't military officers that led us astray with the plans of the neo-cons. It was those on the business and money side. Which really tells you all you need to know.
