I do some work for a non-profit that has a land-line number that eventually forwards to a voicemail service with Verizon. Long story short, we just need the number to forward to a voicemail box rather than have any bonafide POTS. I check the existing voicemail box and transcribe messages to relevant parties, who then call people back on their own phones (home, cell, day job, &c).
I read through the Google Voice docs and found verbiage that they do not support porting of landline phones to their service. Is that still true? We'd like to keep the same number for now, so if GV does not support porting of land-lines, are there some cheaper services to whom I could port the number and save the organization some money? I found this service: http://www.parkmyphone.com/plans-rates.php that seems to meet the needs we have, but wanted to make sure I wasn't misreading anything about Google Voice. Thanks, Adrian.
