No doubt there. My TKD instructor was talking about how martial arts get a bad 
rap the other night in class. Half the people in the class had been asked if 
they liked to fight when someone found out they were in it. I find that funny 
given that one of the things we're taught (by this instructor anyway) is that 
it's better to hand over your wallet than get into a fight if you can avoid it.

Truth is I'm a whole a lot better off for having studied martial arts. Way back 
when I first got into it about 10 years ago I had neither self confidence nor 
discipline. I was one of those people that you always see walking around with 
their eyes firmly planted on the ground. I think it's safe to say I'd be a much 
lesser man had I not gotten involved in martial arts and developed those 
traits.
