Okies... I see there is a dsp_edituser.cfm that is called. I made some changes in there...and it seems to work now without the error.
at last after so much time it seems to be error free. But I'm still stuck with this massive mish mash of files that make up this 'framework'. Which I don't think I really need. It seems that to do the simplest thing I would need to create 10 new files or something like that.
