Recent updates in geophysics mapping of our area puts the odds of a
big quake (9+) within the next 50 years at 10 to 15%. Historically,
we've had big quakes in clumps of 3 or 4 over the course of a couple
hundred years followed by 300 or 400 years of no quakes. We're right
at 300 years and counting since the last big one. Of course, when it
does hit, a lot will depend on where it hits, how deep and what type
of quake it is. Fascinating to see what all seismologists are learning
these days and we still have so much more to learn.
