Doesn't seem to really matter, honestly. It isn't like they were able to wrangle 60 votes for a quick, non-negotiable party-line vote. Ever. I'm in favor of abolishing the fillibuster for votes on anything other than lifetime positions. Make the people we hire for these positions actually do something. The Senate is horridly dysfunctional. Once upon a time, I was in favor of a "do nothing" government. Unfortunately, I've learned since then that there is never a government that just lets the status quo be and gives us time to breathe. Our best hope is that we enable a government that can actually do things at all levels and then actively pursue the regulation and focus on said government.
