We were supposed to be on Ocracoke Island off the coast of North Carolina for the entire weekend - a long planned trip to celebrate my birthday. I canceled our reservations on Monday morning. Just had a feeling. Even the airline let me change the tickets. I was pleasantly surprised. Looks like Ocracoke might take a direct hit but even if not a mandatory evacuation of everyone on the island has been ordered. Hope something is left to visit. It is one of my favorite places on earth.
