I still think it's a meme.

Ultimately it's probably the corporations behind it --  Big Money --
like a twisted version of the "twilight bark".

Makes sense.  Sci-fi has a lot of "futures" controlled by corps.

Bush took us a lot closer to a crazy militaristic government than
Obama has, but the folks complaining now weren't then, when that was
the right time, compared to now.

I just finished SG-1, mixing in Atlantis when the times were right
(heh), and when I saw the torture episode of SG-A, I was like, "I bet
I know when this was made!".

There were a few episodes like that.
