" Extend all Bush-era tax cuts."

Standard party line for months. No surprise there.

"Pass a completely balanced federal budget by slashing 40 percent of all
spending."

According to the article, he "misspoke". When President Obama, misspeaks,
he gets the benefit of the doubt. Extend the same courtesy I say.

Reached for comment today, campaign spokesman Boyd Matheson told The Gaggle
that Lee meant to use the 40 percent figure more as a rhetorical tool than a
fixed estimate

"Analysts estimate that the 40% cuts would cost over 7 million US jobs"

Which analysts? The only reference in the article to 7 million is from the
opponent. What else is the opponent supposed to say?

The cuts, which Lee's Democratic opponent, Sam Granato, estimates would cost
the U.S. 7 million jobs, . . .

"Force President Obama to either sign the budget or shut down the
government"

Political posturing. Easy to do when you are smoking the other candidate.

"And it seems that the Republicans intend to bring the political process in
the US to a halt if their demands are not met."

Eh, so what? It's not like they do anything worth a damn when the process
is running. A few months without political interference might be just what
the doctor ordered for our country.

Also, you're basing this on the comments of one candidate who is so far
ahead in his race that he can pretty say anything he wants and get away with
it, regardless of whether it is a true platform of the GOP or on his GOP
platform wish list.
