I started on a Western/Historical Novel following the same path my gggggfather followed to get to America in the 1860s.
But ran out of ideas and facts. So I fell back on an old idea I had for a fantasy/swords and sorcery story, centered around the founding of "The Adventurers Inn". The basic idea being that there are Adventuring Parties (like those immortalized in every book and story in the sci/fi-fantasy section of the bookstore). And that people in those times and places would follow those parties like we follow celebrity gossip and sports teams. All centered around the Adventurers Inn, like a local sports bar. (merchandise "the sword that X used to kill the dragon", trades between parties, substitutions, farm system for new talent, team logos, etc) Dumb idea, but fun to riff on, and lots of room for follow on short stories. Sometime in Jan I will throw it up online. I will _not_ suggest anyone else read it, partake at your own risk.
