"I have no opinion on Krugman, and don't care about the political debate ...
:"

You should read him. He's always good for a chuckle.

"Which, exactly, is the 'made up' part?"

You missed my point. I believe Krugman believes believes what he wrote. I
meant that If I were to sit down to pen an article I could not make up such
a story. Especially since the price of food continually decreased over the
last 100 years. I just wouldn't be able to make the connection. Now, I
could argue the effective Qualitative Easing or the stranglehold on the
economy by a dictator or the agitation by a group of community organizers
named the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Whether caused by climate change or global warning, you cannot deny that
numerous severe weather events have happened over the last decade that have
affected food production"

And how is this different than any other era of history? Read about Joseph.
He became advisor to the Pharoah due to seven years of famine. Then, there
is the whole ice age thing.

"He said it was caused by climate change. And a lot of scientists and
meteorologists agree with him."

And a lot disagree with him. That's what makes it a debate.

"I would be willing to bet the label being used was changed
from'global warming' to 'global climate change' because a lot of people
were confused."

I would say since the data has been trending away from global warming for a
while. Too much to lose in terms of political agenda and money by letting
the movement die. Just relabel and move on.

"I have yet to hear anyone explain how the climate changed so much before
man had machines."

The ice age was preceded by global cooling and followed by global warming.
 Oh no: global climate change.

"Because now there's money to be made from it."

Oh, there's a lot more than money at stake. The power to regulate is at
stake. The death of global warming is the death of a massive power grab.

Anyway, the whole point of the article was not GW but it's effect on Egypt.
Since food prices have been declining (up until the last year or so) and
oil prices escalating, it seems like Egypt would have been in a prime
position to acquire food. I believe the uprising had more to do with the
dictatorship and its policies than global warming.

Of course, one could argue that if money wasted on global warming related
scams had been used constructively, it could have somehow helped prevent the
uprising.

“I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and
I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the
peer-review literature is !”

“I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each
series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for
Keith’s to hide the decline.”

“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and
it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS
09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data
are surely wrong.”

“If anything, I would like to see the climate change happen, so the science
could be proved right, regardless of the consequences.”

With all of the hysteria, all of the fear, all of the phony science, could
it be that man-made global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on
the American people? It sure sounds like it. - James Inhofe
